1. The cookies we set
Goaliano sets only strictly-necessary cookies, which do not require consent. On the web app they are: the session cookie that keeps you signed in (goaliano_session, marked secure and host-only, for the length of your session); a cookie that remembers you have seen the cookie notice (cookie_ack, 1 year); your light-or-dark theme choice (theme, 1 year); and, only during a sign-in through Google or the staff sign-in, two short-lived cookies that protect the sign-in from forgery and are deleted when it completes. Your language is part of the page address, not a cookie. We set no advertising, tracking or social-media cookies, and no third party sets cookies through our pages.
2. Analytics and error reporting
We measure how the site is used with analytics software that runs on our own server, sets no cookie and does not identify you: it records the page, the country, the browser type and the referring site, and nothing that can be tied back to a person. When something in the software fails, an error report goes to an error-tracking service that also runs on our own server; it contains the page and the action that failed and is scrubbed of personal fields before it is stored, and it is kept for 90 days. Neither uses cookies. If we ever introduce a cookie that needs consent, we will ask for it first and this page will name it.
3. Managing cookies
You can clear or block cookies in your browser at any time. The session cookie is required for sign-in to work; blocking it means you cannot stay signed in. Blocking the theme or notice cookie only means we ask again.
